David A. Dell

1959 - 2025

David A. Dell, 66, of Buford, GA, formerly of New Stanton, passed away on Friday, Aug. 29, 2025. He was born on May 9, 1959, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of the late Albert "Bud" and Lucy (Clawson) Dell. David was a proud Eagle Scout and was a graduate of Penn State and Louisiana State University, where he earned his master's degree. Prior to retirement, David worked as a federal fish and wildlife manager. He truly had a love for the outdoors. He enjoyed backpacking, having hiked the Appalachian Trail, among many others. David was an avid photographer. He owned numerous professional cameras and took them wherever he traveled. David was also a highly skilled woodworker. Everything was done in his workshop by hand; he never used a power tool or nails. Over the years, he made numerous gifts that were cherished by his beloved family. David is survived by his siblings, Albert H. Dell of New Stanton, Robert W. Dell and his wife, Maureen, of Hunker, and John P. Dell of Philadelphia; his beloved nieces and nephews, who were like his own children, Jessica Ormsby (Brian), Becca Santavy (Alex), and Jarod Dell; his great-nephews, Wynslow, Newton, Fletcher, Cyrus, and Brayden; and his great-niece, Juniper. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Mary Ennis. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4, in C. RICHARD MCCAULEY FUNERAL HOME INC., 101 S. 4th St., Youngwood. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 5, in the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the World Wildlife Fund at www.worldwildlife.org.
