Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hauss-Modetz Funeral Home on Dec. 3, 2025.
David Earl Dembeck passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025 at the age of 73.
David was born on May 28, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan to Earl and Marion (Geisler) Dembeck. He was a 1970 graduate of Lutheran High West and continued his education until obtaining his Master of Education degree from Michigan State University in the spring of 1985. On July 13, 1974, he married Valorie Ehlke in Montague, Michigan and they have shared 51 wonderful years, making memories together. David's career as an educator started 1974 at St. Luke in Cabot, PA where he taught for 5 years, he went on to St. John Lutheran School in Ionia for 16 years before transitioning to St. Peter Lutheran School in Macomb Township to finish his teaching career, retiring in 2019. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Macomb Township and was very involved in his church and school. When David wasn't molding young minds, he kept himself busy with building model planes and cars; photographing landscapes, cars and historical landmarks; taking in air shows or anything involving airplanes; camping with his family; playing guitar and singing; and always reading and learning, especially about history. He also coached softball, soccer and track throughout his teaching career. David was an amazing educator and was loved by his students. He loved his family dearly and spending time with them was one of his favorite things to do. David will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
David is survived by his loving wife, Valorie; children, Kathryn (Patrick) Winningham, Margaret (Benjamin) Kienman, Allison (Larry) Vandeberghe and David (Nadia) Dembeck; grandchildren, Sophia, Amelia, Isabel, Elizabeth, Joshua, Gabrielle, Caroline, Zoey and Teddy; sister, Ruth Ann (Bill) Mosley; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. David was preceded in death by his parents.
