David Lee Denson, 78, passed away surrounded by his family on May 20, 2025, in Mineral Wells, Texas. He was born on February 9, 1947, in Killeen, Texas.
David graduated from Killeen High School in 1965. He married his beloved wife, Darlene Funderburg, in July 1964, and together they shared 60 wonderful years of marriage. David worked for TXU/Oncor before retiring.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene Denson. Together, they raised four daughters: Glenda Marsden Harrison (Richard), Christy Gracy (Randy), Diana Miller (Shawn), and Mandy Woodring (Bobby). David was a cherished “Papa” to 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Damon Denson.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Leona and Marion Denson; one brother, Gayle Denson; three sisters, Winna Matthews, Latayne Brock, and Danna Jarvis; and one grandson, Brandon Harrison.
In his earlier years, David enjoyed golf, fishing, and hunting. After retirement, he found great fulfillment in traveling and lending a helping hand to his children and grandchildren with their various projects and needs.
David was a member of the Masonic Lodge and First Baptist Church. Whether through fellowship or quiet acts of kindness, David’s generosity and smile left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
He cherished the time spent with family and friends.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Gentiva Hospice for their excellent care, with a special appreciation to Kaylee, who went above and beyond. They also thank the families and friends who reached out, prayed, and assisted during this challenging time. Your efforts do not go unnoticed.
A celebration of life will take place at Well of Life Church, Mineral Wells, Texas at 11 am on June 20, 2025.
