David Lyndon Despard

David Lyndon Despard (Dave), a beloved father and grandfather, passed away on December 27, 2023, at the age of 67. He was born on January 1, 1956, in Royal Oak, MI, to the late Dick and Sally Despard. Dave spent his formative years in Birmingham and graduated from Seaholm High School in 1974. For the past 20 years, he was a resident of Oak Park, MI.
Dave enjoyed a long and loyal career in the beverage industry, including working for the Beverage Warehouse for nearly 40 years as a manager and consultant, and was well-known by his customers for his vast knowledge and expertise in wine.
Family was Dave's cornerstone, and he found his greatest joy when spending time with his three sons, Jamie, Danny, and Tommy. No matter the game, whether golf, darts, poker or any other competitive endeavor, Dave cherished moments spent with his sons, creating memories that will live on forever.
An enthusiast of music, Dave was passionate about the acoustic guitar. He was especially fond of legendary classic rock bands like The Who, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and most classic rock. Beyond listening, Dave was a gifted songwriter (music and lyrics) and continued that passionate hobby throughout his entire life. He also loved sports and was an unwavering and loyal fan of the Lions, Tigers, Red Wings, and Pistons.
When not at home, Dave loved being in northern Michigan, particularly near the shores of Lake Michigan, enjoying the peace and quiet of the environment around him.
Dave is the father of Jamie (Paige), Danny, and Tommy, and grandfather of Cameron. He is the brother of Rick Despard and the late Thomas Despard.
