David Dobrzykowski Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Palmer Funeral Homes - Bubb Chapel on Feb. 6, 2025.
David Alan Dobrzykowski, 75, of Granger, IN passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. David was born to the late Joseph & Stella (Bladecki) Dobrzykowski on June 30, 1949, in South Bend, IN. He graduated in 1967 from LaSalle High School and went on to earn his Bachelor's and Master's degree in Education from Indiana University South Bend.
On September 4th, 1971, he married the love of his life, Connie Ruth Deak in South Bend, IN. She survives along with their four children: Jennifer Linarello of South Bend, IN; Amy (Nakshab) Nadeem of Oak Park, IL; Meredith (Steven) Seifer of Edwardsburg, MI and Stephen (Jennifer) of Stayton, Oregon; 10 grandchildren: Elizabeth, Isabella, Josephine, Alexander, Zohaib, Hinna, Corinne, Julia, Brianna and Xander; one great-granddaughter, Elliot; his loving sister, Diane Lyons of Plymouth, IN; many nieces and nephews and his beloved fur-baby, Romero. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Joseph and Stella and his most beloved fur-babies: Boogie, Willa, Dutch, Echo, Bear, Wolf, Annie & Koal.
David devoted his career to teaching science at Mishawaka High School. A passion for mathematics and science, he truly enjoyed teaching not only his students, but also his children and grandchildren. Whether it be math and science problems, science fair projects or a fun science experiment, he loved sharing knowledge and the fact that science can be fun. He retired in June 2014. David enjoyed dancing with his love Connie at Dan O'Day Dance Club where they advanced to various levels and earned awards. He enjoyed cheering on his grandchildren at various sporting events and watching them in their school performances. He enjoyed being outdoors, whether he was cycling, gardening, or hanging out by his pool.
David had a passion for music. He played guitar, even taught his son and granddaughter how to play. One of our most treasured memories is Dad playing Puff the Magic Dragon. David was the king of Dad jokes, and a lover of a good pun. As a testament to his humorous side, this joke was found on his dresser, waiting to be shared with his children: Dear Algebra, please stop asking us to find your X, she's never coming back and don't ask Y. He will be greatly missed.
At his request, there will be no services. Palmer Funeral Home – Bubb Chapel is assisting the family with final arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to an organization dear to his heart, Illinois Alaskan Malamute Rescue Association, 200 E. Evergreen, #123, Mt. Prospect, IL 60056.
Condolences may be offered to the family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
