David L Dye, 85, passed away on May 3, 2024 in Fishers, Indiana much to his chagrin.  He was born April 11, 1939 in New Market, Indiana to Bessie Faye (Bright) Dye and Hubert Dye who both preceded him in death.  He is preceded in death by his brother Fredd and is survived by his sister Barbara Daniels (Curt).

He was a proud graduate of Smartsburg Grammar School and then graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1957.  He married Beverly (Lott) only two months after she graduated as a fellow Athenian in 1958.  He worked at RR Donnelly first in Crawfordsville, Indiana beginning in 1957 and transferred to Warsaw, Indiana in 1961 as Journeyman Proofreader.

After many third shifts, he retired in 1994 to a life of leisure that included golf, dirt track racing trips and car wash entrepreneurship.  Among his many achievements, his family is most proud of his 3rd ballot election to  the Basement Basketball Hall of Fame, his vast knowledge of sprint car mechanics of the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s and as the self-appointed President of the Indiana Society of San Francisco Giants Fans.

He is survived by his wife Beverly of 65 years who supported him through the many years in his battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She, however, did not support him in his more frivolous activities, most notably by keeping him from the financial calamity of sponsoring a midget race car.

He is survived by his sons Mark (Judy) and Dennis (Sheryl).  He is also survived by his granddaughters Megan Markiewicz (Mike), Michelle Couperthwaite (Bryan), Valerie Williams (Grant) and Abigail Laine (Tyler).  He is also survived by ten great grandchildren (with two more in the oven).

The Burial of the Dead and Holy Communion will be held at 11:00 AM June 6th at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, 424 West Market Street, Warsaw, Indiana.   A viewing will be held at 10:00 AM prior to communion and a lunch reception at the church will follow.

Memorial contributions can be made to Rock Steady Boxing, 6847 Hillsdale Ct., Indianapolis, IN 46250.
