David Eavy Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rossell Funeral Home - Flushing on Oct. 14, 2024.
Eavy, David, of Flushing, age 75, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024, at Hyde Park Memory Care Unit in Flushing, after an extended fight with Melanoma which he fought at home prior to his time at Hyde Park. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, October 21, 2024, at Flushing United Methodist Church. Pastor Ruth VanderSande will officiate. Cremation will follow the funeral service. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Sunday, October 20, at Rossell Funeral Home and 10 a.m. Monday at the church until the time of the service at 11 a.m.
David was born on August 8, 1949, the son of Lyle and Venepha (Plass) Eavy. He is first, father to Michelle Eavy (Scott Bowman) and Adrienne (James) Howe. He was divorced and went on to marry the love of his life, Susan, in 1986. They had been married for 38 years.
David graduated from Flushing High School. He ultimately went on to the local foundry and then Buick City in Flint, putting in his 30 years doing various jobs including forklift. After retiring, he went on to play his top role as Mr. Mom to Erin (Eric) Eavy of Flushing, and Tara Eavy (Vince DiGiorgio) of White Lake.
He loved his wife, children and family greatly and they will miss him greatly. He leaves many memories from a lifetime at Flushing United Methodist Church to working on the farm and raising pumpkins for over 32 years. He was a very gentle and soft-spoken person, always willing to help as well as fixing almost anything. The memories of family potlucks, fishing, swimming, and birthday parties, hayrides, and games such as apple baseball and golf were loved by so many. He enjoyed watching The Red Wings, Griffins, and Big 10 Hockey with his wife and family, gardening, auctions, playing cards, board games, plowing snow, camping, campfires and his pond. He was always busy outside at any time of year.
Words can't describe how much he will be missed by family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lyle O. and Venepha Eavy; sisters-in-law, Janet (Rusty) Eavy, Jean (Lee).
He is also survived by his siblings, Lee Eavy of Texas, Lyle L."Rusty" (Judy Martz) Eavy of Flushing, Paul (Cynthia) Eavy of Virginia, Gene (Nancy) Eavy of Ann Arbor, Margaret Jonathan) Northrup of Flushing; and many nieces and nephews that he so enjoyed being with.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Carriage Town Ministries, Heart to Heart Hospice, or Flushing United Methodist Church.
