The family of David William (Egghead) Eccleston, age 65, wish to announce his passing on December 5th, 2025, in Terre Haute, Indiana while on a hunting trip to southern Illinois from an ongoing health issue.

David was born on January 30, 1960, in Streator Illinois, the second of five children to William (Bill) Eccleston and Nancy (Likens) Eccleston. He had an infectious smile and a twinkle to his eyes when he was being mischievous and coy.

David attended Streator grade and high school graduating with the class of 1978.

During his youth, David participated in several youth sports programs continuing into high school where he participated in football and wrestling.

David also had a love for fishing, spending many weekends with his family at Lazy Acres

After high school David joined the Marines. He took pride in bis choice to become a Marine and served proudly, a pride that he carried with him to the day he passed- He would often frequent the American Legion and his memory will live on with so many of his band of brothers.

David married Mary Kay Marcin and together they had two children, Ellie and Robert (Bobby).

He took a job with IFP now U.S. Foods and made a career out delivering to various businesses. He carried many on the job friendships with him through his retirement

Besides the friendships he made through work, David made friends wherever he was. Old school buddies like Tom, Dave, Scott, Teke, Jesse P, and so many more to numerous to mention, stayed close to his heart throughout his life. Friendship was not something David took lightly.

David shared his passion for hunting with his son, every year making a few trips to southern Illinois where they would spend time together. And let's not forget David's deer jerky he perfected!

David became interested in wine making spending more and more time in retirement coming up with some pretty interesting concoctions.

David leaves behind his daughter Ellie (Tim) Hurst, his mother Nancy, his sisters Carol (Brent) Reed, Marcia (Jesse) Scudder, and his brother Mark (Mary) Eccleston. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, and cousins and a very wonderful friend Val Schultz.

Meeting David as he moves forward to the next chapter are his son Bobby, his father Bill, his baby brother Brian, his paternal grandparents Bill and Alta, his maternal grandparents Herman and Rose.

A memorial service for David will be held at a later date in the spring of 2026 at which time his ashes will be interned at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.

The family asks that any memorials be directed to the charity of their choice.
