Mary M. Sisk
Born: January 29, 1944 in Streator, IL
Died: March 26, 2026 in Flanagan, IL
Mary M. Sisk, 82, of Streator, passed away on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at the Flanagan Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
Mary was born on January 29, 1944 to Howard Charles Yeck and Marie Leora Rhodes in Streator. In 1962, Mary met the love of her life Michael Thomas Sisk in Streator. They married on April 4, 1964 and went on to have two children, David Michael and Shellee Lynn.
Mary was preceded in death by her father, Howard Yeck, mother Marie Yeck, uncle Pal Earl Brewis, mother-in-law Irene Evers, brother Harold Yeck, and brother-in-law Earl Oak.
She is survived by her husband Mike Sisk, son Dave Sisk, daughter Shellee (Geremy) Tyne, grandsons Baley and Sean Bundy, sister-in-law Monica Oak, niece Pam (Bob) Jerde, nephew Bob (Cheryl) Oak, and many great nieces and nephews.
Mike and Mary were rarely seen apart, a true testament to the deep love and partnership they shared throughout their lives. Whether attending family gatherings, running errands, or simply enjoying quiet moments together, their bond was evident to all who knew them. They faced life's joys and challenges side by side, offering one another unwavering support, laughter, and companionship. Their relationship was not only a marriage, but a lasting friendship and an example of enduring love for their children, grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to witness it.
Mary lived a life rooted in love, family, and quiet strength. She dedicated eight years working as a selector at Thatchers Glass Manufacturing Company and many years working in the deli at Food Expo and Otter Creek Market, but her greatest calling came when she made the selfless decision to leave her job and devote herself fully to raising her children, Dave and Shellee, and later helping care for her grandchildren, Baley and Sean. This choice reflected the depth of her love and the importance she placed on family above all else.
Mary found joy in life's simple moments-cooking everyone their favorite meals, watching the deer in the neighborhood, feeding the birds, completing puzzles (especially crosswords in red pen), cheering on the Chicago Bears, watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, and Survivor. Her kindness touched everyone who knew her, and her legacy lives on in the values she instilled in her children and grandchildren.
Mary was a member of the former St. Stephen's Church and now, St. Michael the Archangel Church in Streator where Mass of Chistian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 1st at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow at St. Stephen's Cemetery. Pallbearers Geremy Tyne, Baley Bundy, Sean Bundy, Dean Bundy, Rich Aukland, and Rick Gelsthorpe.
