David Henry Elliott MD, age 77, of Las Vegas, NM passed away Sunday September 21, 2025 at his home, surrounded by his wife and sons.

David was born in Bend, OR on September 7, 1948 the eldest of three children born to Sydney Elliott and Lola Grammer Elliott. He grew up on a farm near Redmond, OR and attended Redmond grade and high school. After graduating in 1966, he attended Oregon State University, followed by University of Oregon Medical School. He completed his medical training with Internship and Residency at the University Of New Mexico Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident for the final year of his training. While at the University of New Mexico he developed his love for the Land of Enchantment.

Upon completion of his formal medical training, David began his career as a physician of Internal Medicine at Campesino de Salud (now El Centro) in Las Vegas in 1978. He practiced there until opening his private medical practice in 1981. He served the community there until closing his practice in 2018. During that time, he was also a member of the medical staff at Alta Vista Regional Hospital, serving many years as Chief of Staff, a member of the Medical Executive Committee, and Physician Advisor. He also provided care for students from across the world while serving as the physician for the United World College. After closing his private practice, he continued to serve as a physician for the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute until his retirement from medicine in 2020.

David was united in marriage to Alice Homan on April 16, 1985. They made their home and raised their family in Las Vegas. When the children were young, David was often seen on the sidelines photographing local sporting events. He also volunteered for many years as a referee for the Las Vegas Youth Soccer League. David was a past member of Las Vegas Sunrise Kiwanis, the New Mexico Medical Society where is served as a county officer, and the New Mexico Medical-Legal Review Panel. He volunteered as an Instructor for the American Heart Association for 40 years, teaching lifesaving skills to so many medical providers in the community. He was also an adjunct professor for the University Of New Mexico School Of Medicine for 35 years, teaching future physicians in his medical office. David was an avid hiker, backpacking enthusiast, bicyclist and runner. He was also a pilot who loved soaring in his sail plane.

David was preceded in death by his father and his granddaughter, Josephine Elliott. David has requested a private family memorial at his beloved family farm in Oregon.

David is survived by his wife, Alice and his sons, Chris (Samantha) of San Jose, CA, Ryan (Amy) of San Francisco, CA, and Michael (Kelly) of Albuquerque, NM. He is also survived by his grandchildren whom he adored: Pelham, Taylor, Cody, Sofia, Annie, Sam, Caleb and Arlo. Also surviving are his mother, Lola Elliott of Redmond, OR, brother, Dan Elliott (Darla) of Powell Butte, OR, and sister Leslie Knight (David) of Redmond, OR. Other survivors include his in-laws Louie Homan (Deb) of Remsen, IA, Mick Homan (Melissa) of Incline Village, NV, Philip Homan (Katie) of Medina, MN, and Angela Lalor (Tom) of Incline Village, NV, numerous nieces and nephews, and dear family friend Ravi Parashar of Albuquerque, NM.
