David Ragsdale Ellison

David Ragsdale Ellison, born August 25, 1937 in Austin, Texas, he passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2016. He was a graduate of Austin High School and received his B.B.A. from the University of Texas in 1960. Dave moved to Houston following graduation and served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He then went to work in the mortgage banking industry, co-owning Sam Houston Mortgage and serving as president of the Texas Mortgage Investors Inc. He finished his working career with Cravens Warren.
In 1973, Dave married Melanie and began a family. When not working, Dave enjoyed time with his family. His weekends were filled with cattle ranching, hunting and being outdoors. He enjoyed playing golf throughout his life.
Dave lived his entire life to the fullest. He liked everyone. His gift was laughter. Dave was charismatic, fun loving, entertaining, but always had time for his family.
Dave was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Francis, and father, David Raymond Ellison, of Austin. He is survived by his wife, Melanie, four children; Lisa Kenny, David and Jennifer Ellison, Catherine and Paul Landua, and James and Claire Ellison. Nine grandchildren; William, Alex and James Kenny, Kensey and Colton Landua, and Wyatt, Dylan, Austin and Carter Ellison. Dave also leaves behind a host of friends with wonderful memories. He will be missed.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1 o'clock, Monday, December 19th at Christ The Servant Lutheran Church, 2400 Wilcrest Drive in Houston.
