David Andrew Erickson
David Andrew Erickson, 58, of White Bear Lake, MN, passed away on November 1st, 2024.
David was born June 18th, 1966, in Fargo, ND, the son of John and Sue (Wyatt) Erickson.
David graduated from Hillcrest Academy, Fergus Falls, MN in 1984, then went on to the University of Wisconsin, River Falls for two years before transferring to Concordia College, Moorhead, MN, earning Bachelor of Science degrees in Math and Computer Science.
David married Kari Marie [Amundson] Erickson on 10/02/93 at Kari's home church in Swift Falls, MN. David and Kari welcomed two wonderful children into the world; Alyssa and Wyatt, and just recently celebrated 31 years of marriage with a trip to the Apostle Islands and the North Shore of Minnesota.
David worked as an IT Manager at BWBR, beginning his 29-year career on September 11th, 1995, as their first "official" IT employee. A few of David's initial projects included introducing email and the first BWBR website. David played on the company's softball team, built strong and lasting relationships with his co-workers, and planned to finish his career at BWBR.
David especially loved woodworking, cooking/grilling, the outdoors, reading, watching funny or nerdy shows or movies and helping anyone who needed a hand. Singing meant a lot to him. He enjoyed sharing his voice throughout his entire life, singing in high school and college choirs, and ultimately a men's choir that included a choir tour dream trip to Norway, which Kari also enjoyed attending. David simultaneously sang in both the Exultate choir and church choirs until he retired from Exultate in 2019, after 18 years with the group. He continued singing with the Community of Grace Lutheran church choir, happily switching from being a tenor to a bass, depending on which part needed more singers.
David's favorite sport to play in recent years was golf. He was always excited when the snow melted and he could finally get on the course. He loved playing with his father, John, son, Wyatt and brother, Joel, and for the last 9 years, he and his friend, Dan were able to make annual weekend golf trips to various courses.
David seemed to be a true jack of all trades. He taught Kari the finer arts of cooking. He also knew cars, carpentry, lawn care, house maintenance, laundry, computers and anything technical/number related. Kari was grateful he had a math degree and was able to help the kids and his sister with math problems. He was everyone's go-to IT support both at work and at home. He also seemed to have the magical ability to make all babies and animals like him. He was so proud when he could make a baby laugh!
The trips that David and his family took over the years were highlights for everyone. From the North Shore to Wyoming, and from Tennessee to St. Louis, all were memorable.
Remaining to cherish David's memory are spouse, Kari Marie Erickson; children, Alyssa Erickson and Wyatt Erickson; parents, John and Susan Erickson; brother, Joel and (Jill) Erickson; sister, Kari Elizabeth Erickson; mother in law, Lorraine Amundson; sister in law, Aimee Steffensen; brothers in law, Thor and (Vicki) Amundson, Travis and (Alexa) Amundson; 7 nieces, 2 nephews, 3 great-nieces and 8 great-nephews, along with numerous extended family members, friends and coworkers.
David's funeral service will be held Monday, November 11th, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Community of Grace Lutheran Church, White Bear Lake, MN, with Pastor Angie Way officiating. The family will receive friends from noon to 1 PM. The funeral will also be livestreamed – please use this link https://www.youtube.com/live/xYkqEdI9VBI to view David's funeral online.

I was a classmate of David´s at Hillcrest. I only came for my senior year and was nervous about whether or not this new kid from NJ would make friends. That lasted about 20 minutes as Dave led a group of guys to help me move into my dorm room and his easy smile and quick wit quickly put me at ease. He helped me with my computer homework and helped me learn my parts in choir when I struggled. It was so good to catch up with him at our 40th reunion in May. We had talked about getting together to golf...maybe he could have helped me with that too! Until we meet on the other side, Godspeed Dave!
