David Ferguson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by DuPage Cremations, Ltd. and Memorial Chapel on Feb. 3, 2026.
David S. Ferguson, known affectionately as Dave to all who had the pleasure of crossing his path, embarked on his final road trip on January 29, 2026. Born on April 25, 1965, in the charming town of Geneva, Illinois, Dave's journey through life was as rich and varied as his taste in music. From the gentle lull of jazz to the head-banging riffs of heavy metal, Dave's soundtrack set the tone for a life lived with enthusiasm and a touch of the unexpected.

Dave was the beloved son of the late Duane and Delores (nee Keeney) Ferguson. He is survived by his son, Jacob Ferguson, and daughter-in-law, Jamie Ferguson, as well as his cherished granddaughter, Juliet. Dave was eagerly anticipating the arrival of his second grandchild, a new joy for his family.

He is also survived by his brothers: Jeffery Ferguson; Michael (the late Diane) Ferguson; and Steven (Deborah) Ferguson. A loving brother and uncle, Dave's nieces and nephews will always remember him for his quiet strength and the kindness he showed them throughout his life.

He took immense pride in The Ferguson family name, wearing the crest as if it were a badge of honor always reminding us, "Dulcius ex asperis".

Dave's hands were as skilled as his heart was large. After completing his high school education, he honed his technical abilities with a 4-year degree that led him to a career as a Millwright, following in the footsteps of his father. The fruits of his labor can be found throughout the Chicagoland area in the humming machinery of candy factories, the vast expanses of food manufacturing plants, and the sleek lines of automobile assembly plants. If you've ever marveled at the efficiency of O'Hare airport's baggage conveyor, take a moment to tip your hat to Dave – his contribution is the reason your suitcase didn't end up on a vacation of its own.

His recent move to Texas fulfilled a lifelong dream of living in a warmer climate. There, he purchased a home that became a source of pride and joy, a fitting setting for a man who lived his life with such a warm and welcoming spirit.

A man who preferred rubber on asphalt to wings in the sky, Dave relished a good road trip. He believed the journey was just as important as the destination and found joy in the landscapes that unfolded before him. A storm on the horizon wasn't a threat; it was a spectacle to be admired, a natural performance that commanded his respect and awe.

Dave's artistic side was a well-kept secret, reserved for those who knew him best. With the hands of a craftsman, he could transform small engine parts into sculptural masterpieces and sketch scenes that captured the imagination. His creativity was yet another facet of a life that refused to be pigeonholed.

As we bid farewell to Dave, let's imagine him cruising down the highway of eternity and let us remember the joy he brought into our lives. Remember to enjoy the music, take the scenic route, savor the journey, and always watch for the beauty of an incoming storm. Dave Ferguson, you will be missed, but the laughter and love you left behind will echo for generations. Safe travels, dear friend, until we meet again.

A Visitation will be held to Honor Dave at The DuPage Funeral Chapel ( 951 W. Washington St. West Chicago, Illinois, 60185 ) on Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 3:00 -8:00 PM.
