David Silva Fernandes, 47, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, in New Bedford, Massachusetts

Born on August 23, 1978, in Falmouth, Massachusetts, David lived a life defined by love for his family, pride in his work, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life.

Survived by his fiancée, Katrina Guidetti, his partner in life and love—together they built a home filled with warmth and laughter. A devoted father to Dylan Fernandes (23), Savannah Fernandes (15), Matthew Fernandes (14), and step-father to Dolcie Churbuck (14), David cherished every moment spent with his children. Whether it was hanging out at the pond, sharing laughs over FaceTime calls, or simply being present in their lives, he made sure they always knew how much he loved them.

David was the beloved son of Maria Fatima Fernandes and the late Francisco Fernandes, who passed on August 31, 2013. He leaves behind a sister, Izilda Fernandes, and remained connected to many aunts, uncles, and cousins who were an important part of his family.

From an early age, David demonstrated an incredible work ethic. He dedicated his entire career to concrete foundations—a trade he not only mastered but took immense pride in. Starting at the age of 14 and working for his Uncle Joe for 20 years then moving on to work for P&S Concrete out of Mashpee, MA up until his last days. Known as one of the best in his field, David’s craftsmanship could be seen in the 1000's of foundations he built, and in the walkways and patios he created during his limited spare time. He found joy in working with his hands and was always immersed in home projects; at the time of his passing, he was in the middle of refinishing the basement—a testament to his constant drive to improve and build.

Outside of work, David found happiness in crabbing and fishing—activities that brought him peace and connection to nature. A lifelong fan of WWE wrestling since childhood days watching with his father, he carried that passion into adulthood. Cooking and grilling were also among his favorite pastimes; nothing made him happier than preparing food for those he loved.

David had a magnetic presence—his booming voice often followed by a laugh that could light up any room. He would joke with a smile: “I’m Portuguese—I’m not yelling,” capturing both his humor and heritage. His personality was larger than life; those who knew him will remember that great smile and goofy laugh that made everyone feel welcome.

Above all else, David loved being with his family. Whether gathered around the grill or sharing quiet moments by the water, he treasured every second spent together. His daily check-ins—whether through calls or visits—were small but powerful reminders of how deeply he cared.

We weren’t ready to lose you. We love you forever.

May David’s memory bring comfort to all who knew him and continue to inspire strength and love within those whose lives he touched.
