David E. Ferris, 81, passed away peacefully in his hometown of Junction City, Kansas, on November 5, 2025. Born on June 13, 1944, David dedicated over 30 years of his life as a taxi driver with the Yellow Cab Taxi Company, where he had the opportunity to meet a multitude of interesting people. He was known for his ability to remember faces, names, and the cars everyone drove, a testament to his genuine interest in the lives of those around him.
David was a long-time member of the First Christian Church, where his faith and community ties remained strong throughout his life. He was deeply rooted in the Junction City community.
In addition to his professional life, David had a passion for watching westerns and collecting music, with a particular fondness for Elvis and country music. His CD and record collections were a cherished part of his life, reflecting his love for these genres and the joy they brought him.
He is survived by his beloved sister, Marilyn Ferris. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Anna Ferris, and his brother, Larry Ferris.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate David’s life at visitation on November 11, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM, at Johnson & Mass-Hinitt Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Highland Cemetery, starting at 2:00 PM with Pastor Ronnie Roberts officiating.
