Edward N. Ferris, Jr., 78 of Sanford, passed away suddenly while on vacation in Negril, Jamaica on February 19, 2026. Ed was born on June 23, 1947, in Mt. Pleasant to the late Edward and Lepha Ferris.

He enjoyed playing on a men's softball league for over 40 years where he earned the nickname "Fast Eddie". He worked at the Sanford Food Center for over 30 years where no one was ever a stranger.

His deep love was for his wife Marty whom he married over 50 years ago and was so proud of his children, grandkids, and great grandkids.

He was a proud veteran and served during the Vietnam War.

Ed had a great love of dancing, camping, fishing, deer hunting, and hiking in the solemn woods up north.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Lepha Ferris, father and mother-in-law, James and Dorothy Beavers; his sister Patricia VanOrden, brother Earl Clark, and his beloved granddaughter Dasia Brown.

Ed is survived by his wife Marty; children, Michele (Rob) Karban, Tracy Ferris, Jaime Ferris, Rich (Kim) Owen, and Chris (Laurie) Owen; grandchildren, Tyler Owen, Kyle (Grace) Owen, Aaron Owen, Ryan Owen, Morgan (Ricky) Berry, Jalen Brown, Holland Crain, Tuner Anderson, Kelci Anderson, and great grandchildren, Analeigh, Aurora, Arabella and Alexander Owen.

He is also survived by his siblings, Joyce Rolston, Dick (Ginny) Ferris, Chuck Ferris, Jean (Paul) Mayercak, sister-in-law Marlene (Mike) McDaris, brother-in-law James (Carol) Beavers, and by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of Ed's life will take place 3 p.m. Thursday April 2, 2026, from the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Chapel, 1200 West Wheeler Street. Ed's family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until time of the service.
