Yvonne Jean Tomlinson, of Midland, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026, at the age of 93.
Yvonne was born on November 16, 1932, in Bentley, Michigan, the third child to Horace and Bernice (Grove) Willett. She graduated in 1949 from Standish High School, and went on at the age of 17, to become a school teacher. She attended Central Michigan University and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in teaching. She continued her teaching career at the former Mills Elementary School in Midland, teaching all grades. She especially loved teaching 3rd grade, finding that children at that age became more curious and took pride in being able to teach them new things. Yvonne married Delmar Tomlinson on June 9, 1956, he survives her. Delmar and Yvonne went on to have five children, Russell, Kaci, Rand, Rodney, and Amy.
Yvonne was a rather introverted soul, who enjoyed the quiet, small aspects of life. She took great pride in her flower garden, which she tended to for years. In her younger days, she enjoyed stained glass and painting.
Yvonne is survived by her husband of almost 70 years, Delmar Tomlinson; children, Russell (Linda) Tomlinson, Rand (Shari) Tomlinson, Rodney (Rebecca) Tomlinson, Kaci Tomlinson, and Amy Liakos; grandchildren, Wade, Cal, Will, Gayle, Danielle, Justin, and Alexander; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Dennis (Linda) Willett and Faye Adams; sisters-in-law, Norma Brooks and Barbara Jackson. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Victoria; siblings, Eugene Willett, Jack Willett, Wilma Kempl, and Dolores Fennell.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler Road, Midland, MI 48640, with a short prayer service at 12 p.m. Burial will follow at Midland Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations can be made to any Cancer Research Fund of the donors choosing.
