Dave was born April 09, 1949 in Denver, Colorado to Martin and Margaret Fitzgerald. He grew up in Denver and Wichita Kansas with brothers Michael and Robert, graduating from Denver's Mullen High School in 1967. Dave also attended the Colorado School of Mines (Golden).
He met his Bride to Be, Cheryl Nethery, while in High School, and they were married on December 11,1971 in Littleton, CO
Dave started working at King Soopers as a Courtesy Clerk in Denver at age 16 and worked for either King Soopers or Kroger for his entire career, retiring in 2014 as a procurement specialist. He spent most of his life living in the Denver or Greeley areas but did spend 10 years working for Kroger in the Cincinnati area. He and Cher traveled extensively visiting many parts of the world. He leaves behind many friends and colleagues throughout the grocery industry.
Dave was known for his love of all Denver Sports teams but, most especially, his Broncos, spending many hours at both Bronco stadiums and in his living room, rooting for them.
Preceding Dave in death was his Spouse, Cheryl, Brother-in-Law Joseph Weaver, and Sister-in-Law (Jeanette Nethery. Dave is survived by his Brothers Michael and spouse Mary (Sheridan, WY), Robert and spouse Laura (Hernando, FL), Sister-in-Law Sandy Weaver (Nethery), Brother-in-Law Richard Nethery and spouse Martha (CO) and Brother-in-Law Bob Nethery (St Augustine, FL). Nieces and Nephews Kristin Wilkerson and spouse James (Sheridan, WY), Michael Thomas Fitzgerald (Phoenix, AZ) Ken Rodman, Kelly Rodman and Kelly Rodman (Paola, KS) Scott Weaver and spouse Pam (Wray, CO) Rich Nethery and spouse Jennifer (CO) Mike Nethery (FL) Michele Gearry and Spouse Tom (TX) Sean Nethery and spouse Kathy (KY) Sherry McDaniel and spouse Scott (CO) Shelia Farneth and spouse Donnie (CO).
Services will be held on Saturday May 17 at 11 AM at Adamson Life Celebration Home, 2000 47th Ave, Greeley, CO 80634.

Rest in peace my friend. We worked together for many years at the Kings office. We go back even farther as you were the person we had to convince to change our "standard" grocery loads back in the days of SLIC. It brings me comfort to know that you are once again in the arms of your beloved wife.

Mike and the Fitzgerald family, I´m so sorry to hear about Dave. He was the first person to train me as a buyer at King Soopers. I also had the privilege to work with him more once when he moved to Cincinnati in the buying office.
I learned as much about the correct ways of buying as I learned from Mike on how to run great stores.
Dave will be missed but his knowledge will live in many people he worked with through the years.
