David Eldon Flatt, Sr., age 78, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025, at the Mountain Crest Health Care Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. Born on July 15, 1947, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of the late Clifford Flatt and the late Helen Louise Brown Flatt. David was a brick mason who worked for most of his career at Hinkle Contracting Company. He also applied his talents in masonry for some time with Dawson Masonry Company. He was a lifelong lover of travel and loved to go to Las Vegas, Reno, and to ride riverboats, to play slot machines. David was a great sports lover, enjoying watching his favorite football team, the Cincinnati Bengals, and taking in a major league baseball game, watching the Reds. David, during the winter, wouldn’t miss a University of Kentucky Basketball game and loved to cheer on the Big Blue. He took great joy in carving and whittling on wood, creating all kinds of different objects. David was a lifelong collector of baseball cards, Case knives, and Beanie Babies. In his earlier life, he was a very good pool player, competing in several tournaments and competitions. What made him happiest was getting together as a family for holidays, enjoying a good card game during that time. David loved to play jokes and was great fun to be around. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his late wife, Beverly Flatt, and his brother, Steve Flatt. David is survived his two sons: David E. (Kimberly) Flatt, Jr. of Stanton and Jason Allen Flatt of Peggs, Oklahoma; one daughter, Heather Bailey of Wagner, Oklahoma; one brother, Jeff (Ilene) Flatt of Batavia, Ohio; one sister-in-law Della Flatt of Newport and seven grandchildren: Kassie Dawn Flatt, Mary Bailey, Christy Bailey, Elizabeth Bailey, David Paul Bailey, Matthew Bailey and Emily Bailey. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Hearne Funeral Home, 125 West College Avenue, Stanton, Kentucky. Funeral services, officiated by Bro. Greg Webb will be held at the funeral home immediately following at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday. Burial will be conducted at the Confidence Cemetery in Georgetown, Ohio. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hearne Funeral Home of Stanton.
