David H. Fleigle, 84 of Moweaqua, IL, passed away on February 6, 2024, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL. He was born on February 19, 1939, in Pana, IL, to the late Harold Fleigle and Ruth (Forbes) Fleigle. He married Ellen Floerchinger on August 5, 1957, in Keosauqua, IA, and she preceded him in death on April 26, 1972. Later, he married Phyllis Davis on September 10, 1973, in Decatur, IL, and she preceded him in death on March 19, 2022.
David graduated from Taylorville High School in 1957. In the following years, he worked for the Oliver Corporation, Specialized Products and GSI. He retired from GSI in 2011. He enjoyed farming and loved his antique tractors and traveling in his spare time. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.
David is survived by his children: Debbie Ayers of Rochester, IL; Dawn Fleigle of Springfield, IL; Diana (Lester) Corso of Taylorville, IL; Danny Fleigle of Colleyville, TX; Denis (Lisa) Fleigle of Springfield, IL; Douglas (Beth) Fleigle of Poplar Bluff, MO; Kim (Jeff) Marshall of Pana, IL: twelve grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and his brother: Donald (Mary) Fleigle of Taylorville, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Harold and Ruth Fleigle; wives: Ellen Fleigle and Phyllis Fleigle; his son: Timothy Fleigle; son-in-law: Dennis Ayers; and his great-granddaughter: Atley Corso.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024, from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, IL. A memorial service will begin at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Piotr Kosk officiating. Inurnment will be held after the service at Oak Hills Cemetery. David's family asks that everyone dress in casual attire.
Memorials in David's honor may be made to Macular Degeneration Research. Donations may be made in person during David's visitation, or can be mailed to 22512 Gateway Center Dr., Clarksburg, MD 20871.
