David H. Fowler, 71, of Rexford, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, February 20, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born in Schenectady, David was the son of the late Bernard H. Fowler and Theresa Rising.
A lifelong resident of the Schenectady and Rexford areas, he dedicated his professional life to his craft as a mechanic. Straight out of high school David began his career at Pete’s Auto Parts in Schenectady alongside his brother Jerry for many years. He then spent the next 26 years at CDTA until his retirement. David was also a proud and dedicated Lifetime Member of the Rexford Fire Department, serving his community with honor.
David found great joy in the simpler things in life. He enjoyed classic car shows, and took pride in his cherished 1926 Ford Model T. He loved a good cheeseburger and rarely missed a NASCAR race on TV. He found peace in nature, whether he was collecting rocks, fishing, or simply sitting by the water’s edge. Above all, David was a devoted family man.
He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly fifty years, Susan N. Fowler, whom he married on August 22, 1976. He was the proud father of Daniel C. Fowler and Tracie C. Fowler. Also survived by his sisters-in-love Aimee (Kevin) Kea and Cori (Roy) Canode, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by his siblings: Bernard Fowler Jr., Jerry Fowler, Marvin Fowler, Diane Fowler, and Scott Fowler.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to great friend and neighbor Tim Goodwin. Also, Kristen Best-Friesz (Schenectady Pulmonary Care), Dylan MacPhail & Breanna Hacia (Sunnyview PT), St. Peter’s Palliative Care, and the Community Hospice—with special thanks to Tammy Tyson RN, Rosalie, and Emily—for their exceptional care and compassion.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at: Trinity Baptist Church, 2635 Balltown Road, Niskayuna, NY 12309. A formal service will be included during this time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in David’s memory to The Community Hospice or the Rexford Fire Department.
