David Lee Frank, 86, of rural Prophetstown, IL, died Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at his home. Graveside Services will be held at a later date in Oak Grove Cemetery, Port Byron, IL. Memorials may be made to the First Congregational Church of Geneseo or Beacon of Hope Hospice. Gibson – Bode Funeral Home, Erie, is in care of the arrangements.
David was born April 13, 1937 in Coal Valley, Illinois, the son of Herman and Irene (Peiser) Frank. He was a 1955 graduate of Rock Island High School. David married Sharon Erickson in Rock Island in 1958. He began his career with Iowa – Illinois Gas and Electric in 1956 and retired from there in 1995. Following retirement, David and Sharon enjoyed the next 9 years traveling the country in their motorhome.
David was a longtime active member of the First Congregational Church in Geneseo. He had a green thumb and loved working in his garden. He also enjoyed fishing. His greatest passion was auto racing - he followed all types.
He was kind and generous and always there to lend a hand to others. He had a heart of gold.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sharon; sons, Guy (LaRue) Frank, Virginia, Doug (Angela) Frank, Illinois, Dale (Stephanie) Frank, Erie; daughter-in-law, Missy Neumiller; grandchildren, Ben, Andy, Alex and Kit Frank, Adam Frank and Christina Kelley, Darla Sensor, Justin and Joshua Frank, and Bethany Kirkpatrick; as well as 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Roger Frank; brothers, Dale and Duane Frank; and sister, Dorothy Jones.
