David Freemyer

David F. Freemyer passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026, at the age of eighty- eight in Farmington, Missouri, at Presbyterian Manor. He was born August 9, 1937, in Grove Oklahoma, to the late Lewis E. and Alta May (McBride) Freemyer. He was raised with strong values of faith in God, hard work, honesty and serving others – qualities that shaped the man he became and were evident throughout his life.

On December 26, 1960, David married the love of his life, Carmen Lee Pirtle in Flat River MO at the First Baptist Church. Together they built a beautiful life rooted in devotion, family, and shared memories. On the day following last Christmas they celebrated 65 years of marriage, a testament to their enduring love and partnership. David was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He found his greatest joy in time spent with family, close friends and serving the Lord.

David is survived by his beloved wife Carmen Freemyer; his children Tim Freemyer (thelate Carol), Terri Schmitt (David), Rene Boldt (Randal), Dan Freemyer (Diane); his grandchildren Tara Marshall (Jay), Derek Emily (Julie), Dylan Emily, Zane Freemyer- Jackson (DeShay), Ryan Boldt, Lizzy Warren (Gage), Brynn Freemyer (Reese), Jay Puente (Matthew), Riley Boldt; great grandchildren Jovie Lynn, Luke William, Allie Jean, Winston George, Jude Marie, Melanie Carmen, Sage Angelo, Genevieve Noel, Finley Emily, Griffin Joseph. He is also survived by siblings Ann Coulter, Carol Moss (Jim); as well as many nieces, nephews and special friends who will cherish his memory. 

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ellen Sanders (Bob), and his brothers, Howard Freemyer (Carol), and Kenneth Freemyer (Judy). 

Firmly committed to the local church, David was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Cabool, MO, First Baptist Church in Carrollton, TX, and most recently, First Baptist Church in Farmington, MO. David was a very active member of Gideons International, an evangelical association that equips and mobilizes Christian business and professional men, along with their wives, to share God’s Word by strategically placing and providing many copies of God’s Word, the Holy Bible, in places where people are often looking for hope.

David was his high school’s valedictorian who went on to earn a Master of Science degree. Committed to helping others throughout life, he worked as a high school science teacher, guidance counselor, and rehabilitation counselor. He was also a proud veteran who faithfully served his country in the United States Army. He also loved farming, and for many years cultivated sixty-four acres of rolling Ozarks into a family farm model of responsible ecological land use, with carefully curated native flora and Limousin cattle. 

David will be remembered for his unwavering faith, tireless dedication, deep love for his family and serving others.

David was a registered donor with the National Body Donor Program. In keeping with David’s wishes, there will be no funeral service or visitation at this time. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. David will be laid to rest at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at a later date.
