David Lawrence Gagnier, born September 17, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away serenely on November 3, 2024, in
Owosso, Michigan. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and respected businessman who left an indelible mark of joy and dedication on the lives of those he encountered.
David's journey began in the bustling city of Detroit as the son of Albert and Leona Gagnier. He was the beloved brother to Kathleen, Al, Judy, and Mary, all of whom preceded him in death. His early life in Detroit laid the foundation for his strong work ethic and passionate support of the University of Michigan Football team-a love that he would carry with him throughout his life, cheering "GO BLUE!" at every opportunity.
In the summer warmth of July 30, 1988, David embraced a new chapter of love and partnership when he married his soulmate, Diane. Together, they navigated the waters of life, celebrating 36 years of marriage filled with love, understanding, and mutual respect. Diane remained his steadfast companion, supporting him in all his endeavors until his final days.
David was a guiding force to his children, David (Laurie) Gagnier, Mark Gagnier, Kelly (Mike) Hill, Kim (Chris) Milem, Jim (Danette) McDougall, and Jason (Jennifer) McDougall. Each of their lives was enriched by his wisdom, laughter, and unwavering support. He instilled in them the values of hard work and integrity, while also teaching them to savor the precious moments life offers.
His love and pride extended to his adoring grandchildren, Violet, Karlie, Matthew, Mikaelah, Mariah, Emily, Kaleigh, Griffin, Gavin, Addison, Aaron, Lyndley, Leslie, Riley, Gracie, and Lexie. David reveled in their accomplishments and found immense joy in their company.
Professionally, David was a pillar of the marine industry. His dedication to his work was evident in the success of his own business. Known for his reliability and expertise, David's professional life was not just a career, but a passion that fulfilled him daily. Colleagues and clients alike respected him for his knowledge and his commitment to service.
The family will receive friends for a memorial gathering on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 11:00 am, at the funeral home. A Memorial service will follow at 12:00 pm. Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes – Jennings-Lyons Chapel. 520 W. Main St.
