David Gannon Obituary

David W. Gannon
1961 - 2025
Westfield
David W. Gannon, 64, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Christmas morning. He was born on October 13, 1961 in the military hospital of San Juan, Puerto Rico to the late Master Chief John W. and Therese (Pollard) Gannon. He stayed a lifelong resident of Westfield after moving there at the age of 2. He lived with his parents until 2007 when he moved into a group home on East Mountain Rd until his passing.
At an early age, David became involved with The Bureau for Exceptional Children/Jericho where he made great friends, made his first communion and was even able to enjoy horse back rides. This fueled his love for horses. In addition to horses, David loved airplanes and fishing. In his group home he enjoyed many fishing trips with his housemates and caregivers. During the Day David attended a day program from Viability/Pyramid in Springfield in which he became an integral member of the program where all loved him. David touched so many lives with his infectious laugh and always joyful mood. He loved life despite his many challenges and will forever be in the hearts of all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving sister, Marie T. Engel and her husband Frank of Bradenton, FL and his loving brother Robert Gannon of Westfield, his niece Jessica DiStefano, his uncles and many cousins.
A Funeral Home Service will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 with visiting hours beginning at 11:30 followed by a short service at 1PM in the Firtion Adams Funeral Home, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, MA 01085. Burial will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in David's memory to The Bureau For Exceptional Children/Jericho, Holyoke MA. www.firtionadams.com.

David was a very happy gentleman and his laugh really was infectious. He was a very loving soul to all and you couldn“t help but get attached to him. East Mountain Road will never be the same without him. May he rest in peace. My condolences to his family.

David had a great sense of humor. He lit up a room just by rolling in! It was truly a blessing to have known him.
Keeping his family and friends in my thoughts and prayers.
