MARQUETTE, MI - David Martin Garczynski, age 61, of Marquette, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on December 3, 2025, at UP Health System – Marquette. His warm spirit, humor, and unwavering kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
David was born in Oscoda, Michigan, the son of Frank and Alice (Wagner) Garczynski, David was raised in Marquette, where he graduated from Marquette Senior High School. David first worked at the Intermediate School District Skill Center in Food Management for a year before joining Michigan Diversified Industries (MDI). There, he spent six dedicated years as part of the custodial team, earning the respect of coworkers and bringing smiles to those around him.
David found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved watching old movies, bowling, taking pictures, listening to music, camping, and spending time with his friends. One of his greatest joys was helping to care for his nieces and nephews, with whom he shared countless memories. David was kind, thoughtful, generous, funny, and always eager to help, qualities that made him cherished by all who spent time with him. David had the courage to be happy throughout his life despite health challenges and always maintained a positive and resilient attitude. He was a shining example of what life is all about: spreading joy, sharing love, and having gratitude. David made the world a brighter, happier, place with his infectious laugh and he brought meaning to those around him whom he gave a sense of deeper purpose by choosing joy every day, despite adversity.
He is survived by his mother and his siblings: Frank (Deborah) Garczynski of Purvis, Mississippi; Peggy (Todd) Derosie of Marquette; and Mary (Cary) Ford of Wolverine, Michigan. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who adored him: Frank II, Farah, Frank III, Zoe, Scarlet, Madison, Will, Jessica, Stephanie, Lula, Jackson, Charlie, Benjamin, and John. David was preceded in death by his father.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Mitchell and Friends Foundation, PO Box 191313 St. Louis, MO 63119.
Honoring David's request, graveside services will be held in the spring.
