David Garrett Obituary

David William Garrett, 66, of Derry, NH, passed away on September 13, 2025, after battling Alzheimer's disease for the last couple years.

David was born April 29, 1959, in Boston, MA, and was the son of the late Jimmie and Margaret (Coscia) DiGiovanni-Garrett. He was raised and educated in East Boston up until joining the U.S. Army, where he was stationed in South Korea and met the love of his life, Yoncha (Sin) Garrett, with whom he shared 40 years of marriage. After moving back to the U.S., the two resided in East Boston until 1996, when he and his family relocated to Derry, NH.

After serving his country, David went on to have a 35-year career with the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier first in the Chelsea, MA, area and then the Manchester, NH, area. David was a lifelong lover of hockey. Having been inspired by watching Bobby Orr, David played during his high school years and later in the Manchester 40+ Hockey League. He never missed a Bruins game if he could help it. David led an active life, enjoying both golfing and bowling during his free time.

David was the loving father of Stephen Garrett (Yukon, OK), his wife Kynda, and their two children, Edgar and Aleina; and Sarah Garrett (Mattapan, MA). David was brother to Jimmie Garrett (Rockwall, TX); and Patrick Garrett (Hooksett, NH) and his wife, Karen. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

After cremation, no services will be held at this time. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at https://www.alz.org/. The Peabody Funeral Homes are assisting the family with arrangements. To send a condolence, please visit www.peabodyfuneralhome.com.

My condolences to the entire Garrett family. While working at South Station, Dave was one of my best friends. He even invited me to your home to watch a Bruins game. Will always remember going to Monarchs games with you and the sacrifice made by being our designated driver. May you rest in peace old friend.
