David Eugene Gates, 57, of Durham County, died on Saturday, August 23, 2025. Born in Durham County. Mr. Gates was the son of Kevin Gates and Deborah Louise Carmack Gates. He was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, Mack Ray and Edna Gates and George and Della Carmack. David loved spending time with his family and his dog T-Bone. He enjoyed being outdoors and loved learning history.

Mr. Gates is survived by his parents, Kevin and Deborah Gates; his children, Lauren Gates (Coty) and Ashley Sloan (Daniel); his grandchildren, Coralee Hightower, Merritt Hightower, Anberlyn Sloan and Cayden Sloan; his siblings, Amy Clifton (Gene), Kevin Gates (Judit) and Kelly Lopez Cepero (George); his nieces and nephew, Nathan Clifton, Julia Gates, Lily Gates, Samantha Lopez Cepero, and his dog T-Bone.

A memorial service will be held for the family at a later time. A Visitation will be held from 2-3PM Sunday, August 31, 2025 at the Brooks & White Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Caswell County Animal Protection Society, 836 County Home Rd, Yanceyville, NC 27379.
