David Russell Gerdes passed away suddenly at his home in Mesa, Arizona from a heart attack.
He was born August 15th, 1960, to Garry D and Janet L (Carsten) Gerdes in Cherokee, Iowa.
He married Christy Bryant on August 31st, 1985, in Urbandale, Iowa.
He was a service technician for 30+ years in the Des Moines, Iowa community. He was also a very talented electric/ acoustic guitar player with Christy for the worship team at Sunday Church in West Des Moines, Iowa for several years. He was a master gardener and loved attending the annual Midwest Threshers Weekend in Mount Pleasant, Iowa with Christy.
Dave and Christy moved to Scottsdale, Arizona in October 2011 to be close to Christy's family. Dave was employed at Paul's Ace Hardware in the workshop. The staff called it the "Dave Cave. " Dave and Christy also participated in a worship team at a Nothern Lutheran church for three years.
in 2022, Dave and Christy moved to Mesa, Arizona and Dave began a new career, he worked as a security guard for Anderson Security. He was assigned to the Arizona Cardinal Football Team Training Facility. He was so energized by the positive environment. He was very dedicated to protecting the AZ Cardinal family.
In his spare time, he enjoyed volunteering and working at Citrus Gardens Woodworking Shop. He was currently building a new electronic guitar for his latest project. He also created a kitchen island, entertainment center and remodeled their Mesa home.
Everyone who knew Dave always enjoyed his kindness, humor and his amazing knowledge of everything.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years: Christy (Bryant) Gerdes of Mesa, Arizona, brothers: Greg Gerdes (Lieka Bartholomew) of Prescott, Arizona and Dan Gerdes of Papillion, Nebraska, uncle and aunt : Lee Ross and Linde (Gerdes) Ross of Hawarden, Iowa, uncle Kay Carsten of Albuquerque, New Mexico, sister and brother-in-law: Connie (Bryant) Pals and Howard Pals of Scottsdale, Arizona, two nieces: Kathleen (Pals) Peabody (Guy Peabody) of Tucson, Arizona and Susan M (Pals) Wood of Scottsdale, Arizona and many loving cousins all over the country.
