McColl, SC

David Brian Gibson, age 56 of McColl, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 7, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

David was born August 25, 1969, in Bennettsville. He was a son of the late Henry and Christine Parrish Turner. He was lovingly raised by the late Earl Turner. He worked many years in construction and textiles. David was an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills and the South Carolina Gamecocks. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, and fishing. David also enjoyed Ford Mustangs and always had a great time at the drag strip. Most of all, David was a father figure to many neighborhood kids. He always loved spending time with all his family, including the neighborhood family.

In addition to his parents, Davis was preceded in death by a sister, Crystal Turner Guinn; a nephew, Cory Pevey.

David is survived by his daughter, Whitney Strickland of McColl; loved like a son, Jordan Harper and Patrick Strickland, both of McColl; brothers, Michael Pevey and Cale Pevey (Stephanie) both of Laurinburg, NC; sisters, Sandra Pevey of Laurinburg, NC and Lisa Coyle (James) of Carthage, NC; grandchildren, Ansley Locklear, Aiden Locklear, Thomas Brett Parker, and Tatum Walden; special companion, Sherry Sweatt of McColl; step-sons, David Walden of HI, and Joseph Walden of Rockingham, NC; a step-daughter, Sierra Walden of McColl; nephews, Michael Broughton, Davey Broughton, Thomas Guinn, and Jason Pevey; nieces, Kristin Smith, Katie Guinn, Sarah Pevey and Alayna Pevey; the late Earl Turner's companion, Debbie Leviner of McColl; several other extended family members also survive.
