David Bryant Gieske August 27, 1955 – June 14, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of David Bryant Gieske "AKA Dirty Dave", who left us on June 14, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on August 27, 1955, David lived a life full of passion, independence, and a deep love for the simple joys that made him who he was.
David was a man of many passions. He found peace in nature-whether casting a line while fishing, deer hunting, tending to his tomato garden, or simply soaking in the outdoors especially at "Cocksucker Camp". He was a lifelong learner whose creativity and generosity touched everyone who knew him.
He also had a wild and free spirit. David loved the open road on his Harley, the raw energy of classic rock-especially Lynyrd Skynyrd-and the joy of living life on his own terms. His humor, authenticity, and love for the simple things made him unforgettable.
He is survived by daughter Cara Tenter (Walter Ellison), granddaughters Kelly Mason, Jordan Ellison, brother John Gieske JR, along with many close friends who will carry forward his free and wild spirit. He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Schneider, father John Gieske SR, Sister Laurel Gieske, brothers from another mother John and Stan Fagre.
A celebration of David's life will be held on Friday, July 18th at Willwerscheid Funeral Home-Grand Avenue Chapel, 1167 Grand Avenue, St. Paul, MN 55105 with a memorial picnic being held Saturday, July 19th at McCraney Lake at the Bartos Bait Shop, 3151 240 Ave, Waubun, MN 56589, where friends and family are invited to gather, share memories, and honor the life of a truly remarkable man.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made for a tree be planted on McCraney Lake, to Rachel and Greg Cukla 1943 330th St, Waubun, MN 56589 in honor of David's love for nature and community.
Some of David's favorite quotes were: "Stretch you later.", "Pucker up.", "May I have another.", and many more. These simple truths guided the way he lived-valuing people, moments, and meaning above all else.
David "Dirty Dave" will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
