David Wayne Gilbreath was born on November 11, 1960 to Wayne and Jo Nell Gilbreath in Dallas, Texas. He passed away April 19, 2022 in Tyler, Texas.
David grew up in the Dallas community of Lakewood where he graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1979. He went on to study at the University of North Texas with a Bachelor's degree in History.
This passion for history led to a lifelong love for genealogy. He was the President of the Rockhill Cemetery Association and President of the Quitman Genealogical Society.
On June 25, 1983 David married the former Donna Gail Brown. They welcomed three daughters.
While David was raised in Dallas and raised his daughters in Mesquite with his wife Donna, Quitman was always his second home and where he chose to retire in 2013.
He was preceded in death by his father Wayne Gilbreath.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years Donna Gilbreath; his mother Jo Gilbreath; his 3 daughters Rachel McCaslin of Sunnyvale, Katherine Jones, and Rebecca Gilbreath of Dallas; 2 son in laws Colin McCaslin of Sunnyvale and Justin Jones of Dallas; and his grandson Noah McCaslin of Sunnyvale. He was also survived by a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral service for David will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, April 22, 2022 at Lowe-Gardner Funerals and Cremations with Brother Ken Goodson officiating. He will be laid to rest at Rock Hill Cemetery following the service. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday evening at Lowe-Gardner Funerals and Cremations.
