Mildred "Midge" Saunders

Mildred (Midge) Ford Saunders peacefully entered the presence of the Lord, surrounded by her children on March 10, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles L. Ford and Lockie Mae Burtis Ford; her brother, Charles L. Ford Jr.; and her husband of 60 years, Clyde A. Saunders Jr. She is survived by her two sisters, Bimmie Ford Findlay and Judy Ford Boker; her children, Kathy Saunders Rogers (John), David Ford Saunders (Robin), William (Bill) Douglas Saunders (G'Anna) and Nancye Saunders Drukker (Steve); her eight grandchildren, John Ford Rogers (Allison), Hannah Rogers Sternberg (Brad), Zach Saunders (Sarah), Jake Saunders, Fletcher Johnson (Brittany), Will Saunders, Meredith Drukker Stratigopoulos (JT), and Saunders Drukker; her 9 great-grandchildren and numerous extended family.

Midge was born in Dallas, Texas on July 7, 1928. Her parents founded and directed Kickapoo Kamp for Girls in 1925, so she spent every summer ''at camp'' in Missouri, New Mexico, Colorado and Kerrville, Texas. This led to a lifetime love of outdoor adventures and appreciation for the beauty of creation. She could often be found working in her garden, feeding ''her'' birds or painting in her studio.

After graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, she attended Hockaday Junior College and Southern Methodist University, where she graduated in 1949 with a degree in art. She served as president of Pi Beta Phi Sorority, Junior Class Secretary and was involved in various other organizations. It was at S.M.U., where she met the love of her life, Clyde Saunders.

Midge taught at Dealey Elementary School and Robert S. Hyer Elementary School in Dallas before ''retiring'' to raise her children and dedicate her time to volunteering, studying the Bible and helping others. She and Clyde moved to Kerrville in 1990, where she was involved in her church, Bible Study Fellowship, and creating art at the Hill Country Arts Foundation. Midge was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, a faithful friend, wife and mother, and a creator of beauty. She will be deeply missed, but we rejoice that she is at home with the Lord.

The family is grateful to Donna and Val Ionesco and their family for caring for mom so lovingly the past few years.
