David Arthur Goodwin

Courtland – David Arthur Goodwin, 87, a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away February 4, 2026. Born in Marblehead, Massachusetts, he was a son of the late Frank Candlyn and Barbara Punchard Goodwin and was also predeceased by three siblings.

Dave was a 1958 graduate of Marblehead High School, was a graduate of Vesper George Art School in Boston, MA, and served in the US Marine Corps. He was a former Vice President of Advertising at Ingalls, Quinn, and Johnson Advertising in Boston, MA. After retirement, they moved to Franklin where he worked at Ace Hardware for 18 years. Dave enjoyed history, telling stories, watching movies, and visiting historical landmarks. He was a former baseball player and long-time sports enthusiast.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 60 years, Joan Frances Goodwin; two daughters Cathleen "Cathee" Berry (Sean) and their children Angelina Berry (Isabella Lowery) and Edward Berry, and Elaine Fenters (Bryan) and their children Brandon (Lauren) and Alexa (Ethan Hasty); a sister, Janice Hullsman; and two brothers, Truman Goodwin (Waltraud) and Frank Goodwin (Lynne).

A Memorial Service will be held at 3PM Sunday, February 15, 2026 in Wright Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Charles Qualls officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home and suggests that memorial donations be made to any American veteran organization.
