David Lander Graff

David Lander Graff, 86, of Oakley, and more recently Roseville, CA, passed away peacefully of congestive heart failure at his home on November 23, 2025, surrounded by family.

He was born in New Canaan, Connecticut in 1939 to Charles Russell Graff and Estelle Hartshorne Graff. Dave attended San Ramon High School before studying business at UC Berkeley. In 1980, he and his friend Conrad Stroer co-founded the piledriving company Stroer and Graff which employed hundreds of people for over 45 years.

Dave was a devoted husband, son, brother, dad and friend to many. He loved to go hunting, fishing, camping, and boating. Dave belonged to the Knights of Columbus, Cal Farms Duck Club and The April Club. He loved to read and read the New Yorker magazine weekly for decades which was a gift from his brother, Dick. Most of all, he loved spending time with family and friends, laughing and telling hilarious stories and jokes.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Estelle, his brother, Richard, his sons, Peter and Russell, as well as two grandchildren, Elyse Finn and Philip. He is survived by his wife, Ann and his former wife, Sylvia Hamblin, his brothers, John (Rosemary) and Peter Watson-Graff (Deborah), his sister, Margaret, his children, Michael (Cheryl), Tamara Phillips, Kathleen Dickey (Matthew) and Richard (Jennifer Hansen), six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.

Dave's Funeral Mass and Celebration of Life will be held on January 23, 2026 at Most Holy Rosary Church, 1313 A Street, Antioch, CA 94509. Visitation begins at 10:00 am and the service will follow at 11:00 am. Reception immediately following the service at Lone Tree Golf Course and Event Center, 4800 Golf Course Road, Antioch, CA 94531. Donations to the American Heart Association can be made in Dave's memory.
