David Granish Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by A Better Place Funeral & Cremation Services on Jan. 19, 2026.
(Dave, Papa, Dad, Davey)

David M. Granish, known lovingly as Dave, Papa, Dad, and Davey, passed away on January 16, 2026, at the age of 75 in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. He lived in Golden, Colorado, where he built a life rooted in family, friendship, and a deep love for the outdoors.

Dave was born and raised in Springdale, Pennsylvania to the son of John Granish and Margaret Calfe Granish. He proudly served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1975. During his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, along with qualification badges including Expert (M-14) and Marksman (M-16).

Dave was a true entrepreneur and spent much of his adult life owning and operating his own freight brokerage business in Golden, Colorado with his wife, Joanne. He built a successful life for himself and his family through hard work, persistence, and a commitment to providing for the people he loved.

Dave was a jolly soul with a twinkle in his eye and a smile that came easy. He had a genuine zest for life, and the kind of presence that made people feel comfortable simply being around him. He was go-with-the-flow in the best way. He was easygoing, calm, and grounded. The river fit him perfectly: the movement, the calm, the steady flow of energy.

Dave loved fishing (especially at the river), playing pool, woodworking, gardening, good food, his family, his friends, and being outside as much as possible. He appreciated the simple things, and somehow made them feel like the best things.

Dave was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Joanne Granish, along with his parents and his brother, John.

He is survived by his daughter, Jessica Granish, and his grandchildren, Harmony Hamp and Briar Hamp. He is also survived by his common-law wife, Christine Haase, along with many friends and extended loved ones who will continue to carry his memory forward.

Burial will take place on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Fort Logan National Cemetery, located at 4400 W. Kenyon Ave., Denver, CO 80236. Service begins promptly at 1:30 PM MST.

Your love, messages, and support have meant more than we can put into words. If you'd like to contribute to help our family with unexpected final expenses, it would be deeply appreciated.

Venmo: @Jessica-Granish-1 (last 4 digits: 4661)

Or you can email the family at [email protected] to arrange other methods of support or ask any questions.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Dave in a way that would make him smile: plant something, build something, spend time outside, or go fishing.

Some souls belong to the river. Steady, free, and always moving toward peace. Like the river, his love keeps moving through all of us.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 22nd, 2026 at 2:22 pm MST to 7 pm MST at American Legion Post 178. 1655 Simms St, Lakewood, CO
