David L. Gravot, 75, of Smithton, IL, born Wednesday, January 11, 1950, in East St. Louis, IL, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Belleville Memorial surrounded by his loving family.

For 33 years, David proudly served as a Deputy with the St. County Sheriff's Department, dedicating his life to protecting and supporting his community. He was also a proud member of the Fraternal Order of Police, where he built lifelong friendships and camaraderie.

David was known for enjoying the simple things that made life good- an ice cold beer, a backyard BBQ, and long easy evenings spent swapping stories with the people he loved. Nothing meant more to him than family. He treasured every moment with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought endless joy, laughter, and pride into his life.

He had a fondness for classic old country music, the kind that told a story and carried a soul. David could often be found humming along with his favorites.

He was preceded in death by his:

Brother: Eugene "Gene" Gravot
Sister: Mary Heimann
Brother-in-law: Richard Joellenbeck
Nephew: Neil Joellenbeck

Surviving are his beloved:

Son: Tony (Patty) Gravot
Grandchildren:

Derek (Tiffany) Gravot
Dakota (Devon) Gravot
Torrie (Dylan Kelly) Gravot

Great-grandchildren:

Evelyn Gravot
Theo Gravot

Services: Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., January 11, 2026 at TR'S Place. (4901 Concordia Church Road Belleville, IL 62226)
