William "David" Greene, 69, husband of Maria Ralston Greene and a resident of Parksley, VA, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2024. David was born in Nassawadox, VA on July 9, 1955, to the late William E. and Frances Marie Greene.
David had a natural gift of cultivating life, growing gorgeous azaleas and other plants at his business, Greene House Nursery. He knew his efforts demanded hard work to be successful and that is what he remained determined to provide throughout his life. With his associate and right-hand man Sebastian, who became part of the family, they grew and tended 'his plants' with care and respect for their livelihood's products. David was a member of the Eastern Shore Nurseryman's Association and enjoyed the friendship of other talented growers in the business.
As a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Parksley his faith was nurtured by his loving parents and was evident in the way he lived his life. Never one to boast or seek any attention, his kind-hearted ways and how he helped many friends and strangers in some thoughtful gesture, will never be fully known.
In addition to his loving wife Maria, survivors include his daughter, Kelly Greene Chaves, and her husband Derek, and their two sons, Ralston James Chaves and Bentley Scott Chaves, all of East Greenwich, RI; his brother, Kenneth E. Greene, and his wife Jodie, of Parksley; two nephews, Wes and Bryan Greene; as well as his extended family and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at Grace United Methodist Church on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 3:00 p.m., with The Reverend Bill McClung officiating. Private interment will be held at the Parksley Cemetery.
Contributions in David's memory may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 156, Parksley, VA 23421, or to a charity of one's choice.
