Dave Greszler went home to be with Jesus on June 15th, 2023, at the age of 67 while his loving wife held his hand. Dave was born to Heidi Gebhard on July 12th, 1955, in Bad Cannstatt, Germany. In the same year, Paul Greszler adopted him. As a child, Dave was baptized on February 12th, 1956, at Blessed Sacrament Chapel in Nellingen, Germany. Dave was naturalized to the USA at the age of 13, on June 17th, 1968. Dave spent his younger years in Arizona and later moved to Texas, where he met his future wife, Linda Umlang in 1980. They married in 1992 in Arlington, Texas. He spent his adult life as a bounty hunter, loan officer, repossession officer, and private investigator. Later due to health issues, in his early 50's, he retired from his career as a private investigator. This gave him opportunities to spend more time with his loving wife and beloved dogs. Dave was an avid sports fan and could often be found in his man-den cheering on his Dallas Cowboys, Arizona Wildcats, and golf games loud enough the house would shake. More than sports, Dave loved his kids and grandkids, enjoying phone conversations, reading books to the younger ones or commenting how proud he was on social media. He was always a God-fearing man but in his later years his relationship with God grew stronger. Weeks before he passed, God stirred in his heart the desire to be rebaptized and fully trust in God's will for his life. He was baptized by his friend and Pastor, Jim Hampton, moments before his passing.
He is survived by his wife of almost 31 years, Linda Greszler; his children, Jeremy Greszler, Allison McMillen, Sean (and Heather Jennings), Candace (and Jason) Lee; and his 12 grandchildren, Lane, Anthony, Oliver, Freddy Mac, Scarlett Rose, Tabyana, Lorelai, Calliope, Elowynn, Adler, Kevin, and Brody; his mother and step-father Heidi (Gebhard) and Fred Steen; his sisters Joann Reeves, Debbie Greszler, Diane Hoelscher, and his brothers Mark Greszler, and Thomas Steen.
The viewing will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, June 21st, at Emerald Hills Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 500 Kennedale Sublett Road in Kennedale, Texas 76060. Funeral services will be at 11AM with graveside services after. Family and friends are welcome to stay for the reception immediately after services.
Flowers can be sent to Emerald Hills Funeral Home in Mansfield, Texas. In lieu of flowers a memorial donation can be made to The Amputation Coalition, at www.amputee-coalition.com.
Psalms 23
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
