Major David Marsden Grice
June 28, 1949 – December 30, 2024
Major David Marsden Grice, age 75, of Winchester passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on December 30, 2024.
David lived a life defined by service and care for others.
A proud veteran, David served in the U.S. Army from 1973 to 1976 and then continued his service in the Army Reserves as a medic and nurse until 2004. His military career took him overseas to Honduras, Panama, and Germany. He demonstrated courage, discipline, and a profound sense of duty.
David dedicated over 30 years of his career to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he worked as a registered nurse. He also served on the MGH HAZMAT emergency response team, embodying his commitment to protecting and aiding others during critical moments.
He found great joy in fixing what was broken, especially classic cars like his cherished Chevy El Camino. His hands were always busy creating, repairing, and improving the world around him. He also loved running, sewing, and reading about history. Above all, he loved being a father.
David is survived by his devoted wife, Sheila Ketlak, his loving daughter, Amanda Grice, and his two spoiled cairn terriers. He leaves behind a legacy of service, kindness, and a knack for turning challenges into opportunities to create something better.
A private service will be held to celebrate David's life at Keefe Funeral Home in Arlington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the USO to support America's Service Members: https://secure.uso.org/
