Roy” David” Griffin, Jr., 65, passed away on October 14, 2024 at Tift Regional Medical Center. Born on July 18, 1959, in Tifton, Georgia, he brought joy and laughter to all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Rev. Tina Gaines officiating. Mr. Steve Griffin will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow at Clements Chapel Cemetery, 1801 Chapel Road, Ashburn, Georgia. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 P.M. at the funeral home before the service.
Shane Harrelson, Rob Griffin, “Bubba” Blake Spradley, Garland Booth, Mike Bennett and Glenn Griffin will serve as pallbearers.
Before retiring, David worked as a self-employed truck driver with Mike Bennett “Hotdog”. His passion for travel and the open road was reflected in every mile he drove. He was a graduate of Tift County High School and a lifelong resident of Tift County.
David was known for his strong love for his family and friends. He enjoyed cooking, especially making BBQ sauce, which became a source of cherished memories shared at gatherings. Those close to him fondly remember the many hours spent talking and laughing, creating moments that will be forever treasured. In addition to his culinary talents, he had a passion for riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle with his wife, Judy, epitomizing his adventurous spirit. In quieter moments, he found comfort resting in his recliner, watching western movies alongside his beloved dogs, Georgia and the late Daisy.
David is survived by his wife, Judy Shiver Griffin; his brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Lisa Griffin of Scooterville; his sister, Katie Griffin Carr of Enigma.
He is preceded in death by his father, Roy David "R.D." Griffin, Sr., and his mother, Ann Harrell Griffin. Their values and love for David shaped the man he became, leaving a legacy of kindness and warmth that will endure.
Roy David Griffin will be remembered not only for his deep love for his family and friends but also for his vibrant spirit, humor, and passion for life.
