Mr. David L. Griffin, age 75 of Lineville, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at home surrounded by his loved ones. A Celebration of Life will be held on a later date.
Mr. Griffin was born and raised in the Clay County area, and was a Clay County High School graduate. He served in the U.S. Navy and served two years. He was stationed at the Naval Amphibious Base in San Diego California, and was a proud member of the Seabees. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. After he returned home, Mr. Griffin began working for Griffin Construction, which eventually turned into Griffin Excavating Inc, where he worked for over 40 years serving not only as a Heavy Equipment Operator, but was an Owner and Operator for many years. Mr. Griffin enjoyed the simple life living on his farm. He tended to his cattle, enjoyed deer hunting and all kinds of fishing, and loved spending time with his friends and family. He was a member of Springhill Baptist Church, and served on several cemetery committees. Mr. Griffin was a man of few words, but the words were impactful, and his dry humor and quick wit brought his family and friends laughter when they needed it most. He was a loving Father, grandfather, brother, neighbor and friend.
Mr. Griffin is survived by his daughter, Carrie Creel (Kendell) of Talladega; one son, Tim Griffin (April) of Lineville; one granddaughter, Zoey Griffin; one brother, Mike Griffin (Wynelle) of Talladega; and his canine companions, L.D., or "Little Dog:, Kate and Buddy.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Lark O'Cola Griffin and Genette Green Griffin.
