David Harrison Gunter, Sr., 64 of Crawley, formerly of Hinton, entered into eternal rest on August 1, 2025, at home surrounded by his family following a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Mullens on April 19, 1961, to the late Joseph "Joe" and Nettie McMillion Gunter.

David was a great husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He enjoyed working on old vehicles, hauling his junk, and building anything. Those who knew him knew that he and Silas were related, just not by blood because of their love of junk. He also loved fishing.

He was preceded in death by his father Joseph "Joe" Gunter; one brother Joseph "Joey" Gunter; and two infant sisters.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of forty-one years, Mary Gunter; one daughter, Anita Richmond (Jeffrey) of Pence Springs; one son, David Gunter, Jr. (Michelle) of Rainelle; his mother Nettie Gunter; one brother, Ricky Gunter (Jane); one sister, Karen Gunter (Billy Joe); and grandchildren, Kaden, Gabriel, Jamison, Jayden, Ireland, Ralynn, Hunter, Evan and Bayne; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.

There will be no services per David's request.

We will always carry his memories in our hearts.

Donations of sympathy can be made to the family during the memorial dinner on August 10, 2025, at 2:00pm, at 215 Orchard Drive, Rainelle, West Virginia 25962.

The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation and thanks to the staff of Peyton Hospice House for all of their outstanding care provided to David.

Alderson Funeral Services and Smathers Funeral Chapel is honored to be entrusted to care for David and his family during their great time of need.
