Duncan, SC

David (Dave) Gunton, 79, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026, after a battle with cancer. Born in Pittston, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph Aloysius Gunton, Sr. and Eleanor Elizabeth Smith Gunton, and the husband of Lisa Arwood Gunton. He retired from Milliken & Company and Sage Automotive. Dave was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of Tyger River Presbyterian Church.

Dave took great pleasure in earning his private pilot's license and flying, and in being a certified scuba instructor. He enjoyed lots of golf, travel, and good times with great friends.

Survivors also include his son, Daniel Reid Gunton; two brothers, Joe Gunton, Jr. and his wife, Cece and Ken Gunton and his wife, Beth; three sisters, Rosie Lytle, Karen Barber and Margie Sherrill and her husband, Kevin; a father-in-law, Del Reid; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Frank Gunton and Pat Gunton; and a sister, Kathy Cotten.

Memorial services will be held at 2PM on Saturday, February 07, 2026, at Tyger River Presbyterian Church with Dr. Doug Cushing and Rev. John Daniel DeBevoise.

The family will receive friends from 1PM until 2PM prior to the service.
