David “Jimmy” Harrell, 86, of Jarratt, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025. He was the son of the late David James Harrell and Emily Smith Harrell and he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Florence Marie Harrell.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Donna Lee Harrell; daughter, Lori Harrell Keller (Ed) and son, David Eric Harrell; two stepsons, David Francis Yoder (Jessica) and William Lee Yoder (Kara); stepdaughters, Dawn Marie Watts (Gary) and Jonna Dee Harrell; grandchildren, Zachary Daniel Keller, David Edward Keller (Michaela), Sarah Elizabeth Harrell and Rebecca Paige Harrell; step-grandchildren, Saydee Marie Yoder, Wesley Harrell Yoder, Katie Yoder, Karli Yoder, Collin Watts and Sydney Watts and his devoted caregiver, Margaret Temple.
Jimmy lived his entire life in the Jarratt/Emporia area. He served in the National Guard and as church superintendent at Lebanon United Methodist Church. Jimmy worked at Kingsbury Homes, Georgia Pacific, and Emporia Sash and Door. After retirement, he joined David Yoder in business with Pineview Greenhouse pursuing his love for growing things. He will also be remembered as an avid deer hunter and antique collector.
The family will receive friends 12 noon – 1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 2 at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd, Jarratt, Virginia.
The funeral service will be held 2p.m. graveside at Harrell Family Cemetery.
