Margaret Elizabeth Harris Morris, 88, of Emporia, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Frances Pauline Guichard and Lafayette Brigham Harris. Margaret was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 64 years, Howard C. Morris; sister Grace H. Emory, and brother Milton Sunny Harris.
She is survived by her son, John Howard Morris and wife, Traci; grandson, William Howard “Will” Morris and her brother, Wayne L. Harris along with a number of nieces and nephews.
Margaret retired from the Emporia telephone company after many years service, she was a longtime member of Aberdour Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School in her earlier years; was a devoted wife, mother, “Grams” and mother-in-love; and loved the music and singing and playing her tambourine when family and friends gathered for times of fellowship.
The family will receive friends 4-6 p.m. Thursday, December 11 at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd., Jarratt, Virginia. The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, December 12 at Aberdour Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
