David L. Harris, age 68, of Battle Creek passed away on February 11, 2026 at Beacon Hospital, Kalamazoo. He was born on February 10, 1958 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the son of Lawrence and Beatrice (Buyce) Harris. David was a lifelong resident of Battle Creek. He graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1976, then went on to attend Kellogg Community College. He proudly devoted 35 years of his life to serving his country with the 110th Wing, Air National Guard. He loved spending his time out in the woods hunting or on the water fishing when he wasn’t cheering on his beloved Michigan Wolverines. He found his joy spending time with his family and participating in his kids and grandchildren’s activities, his favorite title in the world was ‘Papa’. David married Joyce Weaver on April 28, 1990 and spent the past 35 years by her side. David is survived by his wife, Joyce; children, Caitlyn (Jacob) Henderson of Battle Creek, Tyler (Baylee) Harris of Ashland, KY., sisters, Mary Jane (Ralph) Harper of Middleville, MI, Sue Ellen (Lynn) Burgett of Battle Creek, grandchildren, Liam, Emma, Gavin, and Adalyne, along with several nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Nancy Lee Winkler. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Friday, February 20th from 4-8pm at Riverside Golf Club, 245 Columbia Ave. E, Battle Creek, MI. Private inurnment will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions in David’s memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
