David Martin Hembree, born on November 27, 1961, in Terrell, Texas, passed away on January 12, 2026, in Greenville. He was known for his vibrant personality and love of life, always being the loudest one in the room. David had a knack for making everyone feel special, greeting friends and loved ones with his signature phrases “hey baby” and “on it.” His daily attire typically included overalls and a pack of chewing tobacco tucked into his pocket.
As a farmer and cattle worker, David dedicated his life to the land and to his family. He graduated high school and spent his days passionately working his fields, riding his tractor, and taking care of cows. His fondest memories included spending quality time with his grandchildren and driving down back roads, where he loved to reminisce about the good old days while telling stories.
David's heart was full of love, especially for his family. He is survived by his wife, Janet Hembree; son, Joshua Hembree; daughter, Nicole Woolly; daughter-in-law, Jasmine Hembree; granddaughters, Aubree Hembree, Averee Hembree, and Amelee Hembree; grandsons, Lincoln Woolly and George Hembree; son-in-law, Lance Woolly; sister, Twyla Starr; brother-in-law, James Starr; and sister-in-law, Billie Bennette.
During his lifetime, David cherished the moments he spent with friends, often seen laughing and sharing meals with good company. He will be remembered fondly by many, including his close friends Rusty Campbell, Jacob White, Eddie Heath, Donnie Peoples, Mike Peoples, the Jacob family, R.G. Stevenson, and countless members of the native Rockwall crowd.
David leaves behind a legacy of joy and laughter, deeply rooted in love for his family and friends. His proudest accomplishments were the births of his two beloved children, and he will be sorely missed by all whose lives he touched.
