David Hilmon Lee Dooley Jr., age 79, of Tiger, GA, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026.
Born in Athens, GA, on December 26, 1946, David was the son of the late Hilmon Dooley and Pauline Dooley. A dedicated public servant, David spent many years in law enforcement, protecting and serving his community.
Outside of his professional life, David found peace in the mountains and cherished time spent with his family. He was known as a kind-hearted man who truly never met a stranger. Above all, he had a profound love for his loyal dogs, Lucy and Sally.
In addition to his beloved wife, Lesia Dooley, he is survived by his children, Steve (Kim) Dooley and Scott (Tina) Dooley; eleven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Stacy Dooley, and one sister, Beverly Ford.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Rocky Grove Community Cemetery, with Rev. Kyle Watts officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in David’s memory to: Paws4Life Humane Shelter 261 Boen Creek Rd. Tiger, GA 30576
