David Joel "Dave" Hjermstad

1948 - 2023

Kenyon - David Joel Hjermstad passed away at his home on July 14, 2023, at the age of 75. David is survived by his wife Carey of 30 years, their children Marcus (Dorthy) Allen, Megan Allen, Tucker Hjermstad, Taylor (Cameron) Eggert,Mary Hjermstad, granddaughter Zoe Allen, sister Margaret (Pat) Williams, many nieces and nephews, and wonderful family friend, Chris Loftness.

David was a man devoted not only to his family but to the ground beneath his feet as well. David's passion was raising and caring for his animals and his lifestyle was defined by his farm. He was always content amongst his animals and the outdoors. David was also an avid Twins fan who never missed listening to a game on his a.m. radio.

David was a proud and steadfast man. He endured significant health issues. David was determined not to be, what he felt, a burden upon his family as his health deteriorated. He elected to forego medical intervention and to meet his destiny on his own terms. That choice defined his strong will.

David will be remembered as a citizen of Kenyon who belonged to many boards and volunteered in the community. He will be remembered for the valued relationships he established with all that knew him. He was a loving father and husband.

David's directive to not have a funeral service is being respected. Please direct memorials to Allina Health Hospice.
